Adapted future landscapes: User guide

Author: Wayne Meyer
Year: 2013

A User Guide designed to support natural resource management (NRM) planning and decision-making and to provide easy assessment of the possible implications for land use and water resources arising from climate change, commodity prices and carbon pricing. The approach combines application of the Landscape Futures Analysis Tool (LFAT, http://www.lfat.org.au/lfat/) as well as the ‘envisioning process’ a process for engaging stakeholders in determining their vision for the landscape, an important precursor to use of LFAT. The envisioning process helps to identify the values that people influencing NRM use in making decisions about engagement, plans and actions. The process described in this User Guide were developed and implemented in a project within Eyre Peninsula and South Australian Murray Darling Basin NRM regions. The envisioning process and LFAT were used to develop a process of science based optioneering that explored future land use options that could be embedded in NRM Board planning and community engagement.
