Synthesis Summary 2: Floods
Author: NCCARF
Year: 2016
This summary deals with floods and flooding. Floods are costly and devastating. Many parts of Australia are exposed to flooding but are poorly adapted to withstand the associated impacts. Climate change will increase the risks in some areas through higher rainfall totals, more intense rainfall and/or increased risk of inundation from the sea due to sea-level rise. The summary explains the nature of floods, why we need to adapt, and how the new research knowledge might help address key adaptation policy challenges.
