Climate change adaptation: Briefing note 4 – Engineers
Author: NCCARF
Year: 2016
This briefing outlines the challenges that engineers face in preparing for a climate changed future. Climate change will impact on physical structures, demand new designs and materials, and impact on the way we live in our cities and towns. Engineers have long been at the forefront of climate change adaptation practice, particularly in the coastal zone, conceptualising solutions, designing and building coastal infrastructure. This factsheet lists some of the risks this sector will be faced with, what climate change may mean for those working in this sector, and how adaptation might help shape their response to these challenges.
