Information Manual 7: Engineering solutions for coastal infrastructure

Author: Tony Webb
Year: 2016

This manual summarises engineering functions and organisations and the roles they have played and continue to play in the coastal environment. It should be read in conjunction with the other information manuals in CoastAdapt, as sound engineering decisions cannot be made without solid understanding of climate change processes and other hazards; interaction with the environment, policy, planning and legal frameworks; and the need to engage the community. A particular focus of this information manual is a series of three coastal engineering guidelines issued by Engineers Australias National Committee on Coastal and Ocean Engineering (NCCOE). These guidelines provide methodologies, recommendations and sources of information especially relevant to CoastAdapt.
